What is the Best Self Tanner?

Friday, February 24, 2012
by John Doe

There’s no denying it – glowing and radiant skin helps to make us feel healthy, attractive and confident!  With the warm summer weather we’re eager to have a perfect tan, yet with the knowledge that UV rays are dangerous, it’s important to avoid the sun and instead find the best self tanner for your skin.  With a high-quality and appropriately coloured tanning solution, you can have the perfect summer complexion. So here are some tips on choosing the best self tanner for your skin type.

1.  Don’t be fooled by price! When it comes to purchasing a sunless tanning solution, more expensive doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s better.  There are endless brands on the market these days, which means there is a great range of affordable, high quality tanning products.

2.  Get advice from an expert. If you’re planning to apply self tanner at home, it’s definitely worth booking into a tanning salon for a spray tan and consultation.  Using spray tan solutions, they can help you find an appropriate colour for your skin type and advise you of a self-tanning lotion that is a similar shade.

3.  Know your skin type. While self-tanners can help to boost your sun tan, it’s worth knowing your natural skin colour. If you are naturally pale, don’t be tempted to choose solutions that are extra dark. Instead try a medium tanning solution and build your way up if necessary.

4.  Lotions or foams? We tend to recommend tanning lotions, as they help to moisturise your skin at the same time. A tan will always apply and last for longer if your skin is well hydrated!

5.  Avoid red based bronzers. If your skin has pink undertones, then you are best avoiding self tanners with any red based bronzers. These are likely to make your skin look ruddy. If you have olive based skin then you’re lucky – your skin should suit most self-tanning colours.

6.  Be careful of your skin allergies! If you have skin that tends to be reactive and sensitive, test small amounts of a self-tanner on your skin before applying it to your whole body. This is the best way to find a tanning product that your skin can handle, without experiencing a stressful breakout. You can also check the back of the tanning solution for any ingredients that you are allergic to.

7.  Do you like the smell of beauty products, or do you tend to choose fragrance-free products? There is now an extensive range of tanning products on the market, so if you don’t like the smell of self-tanners then you can choose one that’s odour-free.

Unfortunately there isn’t one best self tanner for everyone to use. Therefore, it’s important to take your time to find the right sunless tanning product for your skin type and complexion.  With some help from the tips above, this should be much easier. And the great thing is – once you’ve found the best self tanner for your skin, you can keep using it forever. People may even start thinking it’s your natural colour!

Beauty Tips for Summer

Monday, February 20, 2012
by John Doe

Every season has a set of essential beauty tips. With the hot Australian sun, summer can result in oily skin, sunburn and breakouts, which all far from desirable.  So how can you be a summer beauty? With some guidance from the beauty tips below, you’ll be looking your very best this summer!

1. Your skin is likely to be more oily than usual during the summer months due to the heat and humidity.  Therefore, it’s important to minimise the amount of oil that you add to your skin in order to avoid breakouts and black heads.  Try using oil-free face products; including water based foundations and light face moisturisers.

2. Stop using flat irons and let your hair run wild and wavy.  Flat irons will only damage your hair and remove any natural shine.  Instead, keep your hair natural and glossy. After all, beach hair looks great in summer!

3. Keep up the exercise. Whether you enjoy walking, running, swimming or another form of exercise, it’s worth keeping up your fitness in summer. If you find it hard to exercise in the hot weather, try swimming.  Your skin will always look better after some healthy exercise!

4. Conditioning your hair is vital in the summer. Give your hair a treatment at home at least once a week, especially if you enjoy swimming in salt or chlorine water. You can also spritz a little leave-in conditioner and wear a swim cap so that you can prevent the hair from damage caused by chlorine and salt water.

5. One of the most important beauty tips for the skin and lips – apply products that contain SPF everyday in summer! If you want to have healthy, glowing skin, then it’s critical to avoid harming it in the harsh summer UV rays.

6. To maintain your summer beauty, be sure to exfoliate your face at least twice a week to remove any excess oil or dirt from the pores.  In the hot weather, it’s easy for your pores to get clogged causing unwanted breakouts.

7. Cleanse and moisturise your face every night. This will help to keep your face clean and young. In order to avoid aging and maintain your summer beauty, it’s important to apply moisturiser every day.

8. Get your summer glow with a spray tan.  This is the most important of our beauty tips! If you want a summer tan, there is no need to lie in the harsh sun – instead get a healthy spray tan!

9. When you want the ultimate summer beauty look, apply a bronzer powder to your face.  For maximum effect, try to accentuate your cheek bones!

10. And our very last summer beauty tip – drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. This will help to cleanse your body of any toxins, keeping your skin hydrated and glowing.

So there you have our top 10 tips for looking your best this summer. Take the time to give them a try; you’re sure to see results!

Skin Care Tips For Summer

During summer, our skin is exposed to the blazing sun, humidity, chlorine and other harsh conditions.  In order to maintain healthy and glowing skin, it’s important to follow a careful skin care regime!  Avoid dry patchy skin, break outs and sun burn this summer – with our skin care tips you can have glorious and radiant summer skin!

Cleanse twice morning and night. To avoid any breakouts during summer, it’s important to cleanse your skin twice morning and night. This sounds unusual at first, however makes perfect sense! With the humid weather, your pores can become easily clogged, causing blemishes and break outs.  Therefore, it’s not only important to wash off the outer layer of makeup and dirt, but to cleanse any excess residue from the pores too.  This skin care tip is one to remember!

Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! Although the hot sun can often make your skin feel hot and oily, it can also dry it out.  Summer activities such as swimming in chlorine will also dry out your skin. Be sure to moisturise at least once a day to replace the healthy oils in your skin.  Moisturising after cleansing is the best way to maintain balanced skin.

Slip, slop and slap. Don’t be tempted to get a sun tan! With all the other options of spray tan and self tanning lotions these days, you are crazy to expose your skin to the harsh UV sun rays.  Sun tanning will only dry out your skin and potentially cause burn. Both of these things will increase your chances of blemished summer skin.

Try going natural. One of the best ways to achieve glowing summer skin is to avoid heavy and oily foundations. Although you may feel nervous to reduce the amount of makeup you wear at first, you will love the look once you get used to it.  Apply some sunless tan to your face and body if you desire some extra colour, however wearing less foundation is likely to reduce your chances of blemished or unbalanced skin in the hot summer weather. Try a tinted moisturiser or a water based foundation.

With these tips you’re sure to have glowing summer skin. They’re only simple, but certainly worth following.  The most important tip of all is to stay out of the harsh UV rays and start spray tanning instead!

Summer Hair Tips

Luscious and healthy locks are a great way to achieve a radiant summer look.  But with the blazing summer sun, humidity and salt water, your hair can get easily damaged.  So how can you avoid frizzy, ragged ends during summer? Here are our top summer hair tips to achieving a full and shiny head of hair. With these hair care tips, you’ll have all the girls staring with envy!

1. Avoid Overexposure

The summer sun results in dried out hair and scalp.  When you’re outside for extended periods, wear a large brimmed hat to protect your hair from the harsh UV rays.  This is even more important if you have dye in your hair as the sun won’t only dry it out, but will also change its colour.  Exposure to salt water and chlorine is also damaging, which means it’s best to protect your hair before swimming.  There are some great summer hair products on the market, so visit the pharmacy and purchase a UV hair protecting spray before you visit the beach or pool.  This is one of the best hair care tips around!

2. Get rid of any nasty substances

After you’ve been swimming it’s important to remove any trace of chlorine from your hair as quickly as possible. Shampooing the hair will only remove the first layer of dirt and scent, so make sure you always shampoo twice.  Using a high quality shampoo that is intended for repairing sun damaged hair is also ideal.

3. Replace oils and nutrients

Never forget to condition your hair! After you have been in the sun, salt water or chlorine it is extremely important to replace the oils in your hair.  Choose a highly moisturising conditioner for the summer time and use it daily.  This is one of the most important hair care tips – after all, nobody likes split ends!

4. Stay Natural

Believe it or not, your hair will look far healthier if you leave it natural. Of course this is one of the optional summer hair tips, but if possible, you should avoid dying your hair a lighter colour as the bleach will only dry the hair out more.  Your hair is likely to become a lighter colour during the summer months anyhow since the sun and salt water are natural bleaching agents. If you are in need of a change, try dying your hair darker – brunette rinses replace elasticity and moisture in your hair!

5. Avoid harmful hair tools

This is the last of our summer hair tips, but it’s an important one!  Whenever possible, avoid using heated hair tools such as straighteners, hair dryers and curling wands. Using these tools regularly will lead to split ends and dull, dry hair.  Instead, keep your locks natural during the week and save the heating tools for the extra special weekend events.

So there you have our top five hair care tips!  Compliment your glowing summer tan with incredibly healthy locks this summer.  After a few weeks of following these summer hair tips you’ll never look back!

The Perfect Wedding Tan

Monday, February 13, 2012
by John Doe

We all dream of our wedding day for years before it actually happens, so when the time finally arrives it’s important to get it right!  Feeling confident and pretty in your wedding dress is crucial in order to enjoy your big day, so how can you ensure that you’ll feel your best? While eating healthily, exercising and having good night’s sleep can help, there is one more thing you’ll definitely need – a glowing, summer tan!  The next question is; how can you achieve your perfect wedding tan?  You can lie outside and sunbake to get your tan, however we all know this isn’t healthy and you’ll risk getting burnt which can lead to all sorts of disasters including peeling.  The smartest option, like always, is a sunless summer tan!  In order to achieve the perfect tan for your wedding day, here’s some of our top tanning tips.

Organise to have a trial run

There are all sorts of things to consider for your wedding day. Firstly you are likely to be wearing more makeup than usual, and secondly you will be having lots of photos taken.  Leave time to have a few trial spray tans before the wedding day so that you can experiment with spray tan solutions and colours.  Not only is it important to choose a colour that suits your body, however your makeup must also match.  The last part of the trial is to take a few photos and ensure your wedding tan looks as good as you’d like it to.

Make an early booking

Once you have chosen a salon that you are happy with, make sure you book your appointment well in advance. Imagine if you couldn’t get into the salon after all this preparation!  Depending on how well your tans tend to last, book your appointment for 1 or 2 days before your wedding day.  Do not be tempted to book your appointment for the same day – you definitely don’t want to end up with tan on your white dress. This is one of our most important tanning tips!

Prepare your skin

As your wedding day approaches, it’s important to have your skin prepared and ready for your spray tan.  Ensure that you leave time to wax or shave the day before you visit the salon, as you’ll need to give your skin pores time to close over.  You should also exfoliate and moisturise all over your body for the week leading up to your spray tan, making sure that you leave 8 hours between your last exfoliation and your spray tan.

Maintain your tan

With the above tanning tips in mind, you are ready to visit the clinic. Once you arrive, the tanning technicians should take care of you, so all that you’ll need to do is maintain your wedding tan leading up to the big day.  Avoid exercise, sweating, hot showers and swimming in chlorine or salt water.  Also be careful when spraying your perfume on your neck and chest, as it can cause your tan to become blotchy.  Instead, apply perfume to the underside of your wrists or in your hair. Our tanning tips are almost over, but there is one last thing to help you achieve your perfect wedding tan.  Purchase a tan extending moisturiser, which are available from most tanning salons.  Using this will help your tan to last for longer, making it well worth the buy!

Getting a spray tan is a great way to look and feel your best on your special wedding day.  Following these simple tanning tips, you can have the perfect wedding tan!

10 Makeup Tips For Summer

Monday, February 6, 2012
by John Doe

Although summer brings plenty of pleasures, the heat and humidity can lead to some serious make up disasters. Not only can a sweaty face result in blotchy foundation and sliding eyeliner, but having a sun tan can also make your makeup look too pale.  Getting your summer makeup right can be quite a fine art, but it’s certainly one worth learning!  Make sure you have flawless and fresh makeup this summer with Adore Tanning‘s top 10 makeup tips:

1. Make the primer your prime product! Before you apply any makeup, take the time to cleanse you’re your face and use a primer. This will create a smooth base for applying your foundation and will also help to hold your makeup in place for longer.

2. Go a shade darker. When summertime arrives it’s best to substitute your winter foundation for a darker colour.  It’s never attractive to match a tanned body with a pale face.  So go out and get yourself some summer makeup!

3. Use a touch less makeup to achieve a fresh and natural look! This is one of the most important makeup tips. Don’t overdo your summer makeup; you will only end up with it sliding all over your face in the heat.  Try using a light water-based foundation or a tinted moisturiser.

4. Use your bronzer with care! To look your best in summer, it’s all about achieving a natural looking tan.  With some nice base colour from a spray tan, you should only need to apply your summer makeup lightly. Use just enough bronzer to give your face a healthy glow while maintaining a natural look.

5. Keep the cheeks rosy! Colour your cheeks with a dash of blush – after all, summer is all about looking radiant and healthy. Use cream blushers instead of powders as the cream will set into your skin rather than sliding around in the heat.

6. Switch to gloss and shine! Rather than wearing a thick lipstick which is likely to crease in the summer heat, try using balms or glosses. Not only do they look more summery, but they often contain SPF, helping to protect your lips from wrinkling in the sun. Lip glosses are one of our favourite summer makeup items!

7. Keep the eyebrows simple! Rather than plucking your eye brows thin and drawing on extra definition, allow your brows to flourish naturally. Hold back from plucking them for a few weeks – you’ll be surprised how quickly they grow back. In the bright summer light, natural brows will always look better!

8. Highlight the eyes! Eyes are one of the most beautiful features on the face, so why not accentuate them? Use fun and colourful eye shadows to get into the summer mood.  Remember from one of our earlier makeup tips, applying a primer beforehand will help your eye shadow to last for longer!

9. Use waterproof mascara and eye liner! Sweating in summer often leads to runny mascara and eye liner, which isn’t a great look.  Most brands offer waterproof options these days, so try to purchase these for your summer makeup.  Plus, if you get tempted to go for a swim, you won’t end up with panda eyes!

10. Stay clean and fresh! The final of our makeup tips is to exfoliate at least twice a week during summer. Your pores tend to open more easily in summer with the heat, so you don’t want to end up clogging them with sweat and makeup.  Follow a strict exfoliating regime to keep your face looking fresh and blemish-free.

So there you have our top 10 makeup tips.  Follow these hints to have perfectly fresh makeup this summer!
