Fake Tan Remover for Hair

Thursday, September 15, 2011
by John Doe

Spring and summer is all about a gorgeous tan and highlighted beach hair- but not tan IN your hair! Spray tanning can be a messy task, and accidents do sometimes happen. Here are some tips on how you can remove fake tan from your hair if you happen to find tan in your golden-blonde locks.

Prevention is better than cure Try and avoid tan stain on your blonde hair in the first place. Tie hair up and back with clean, dry hands before commencing the tanning application. Also apply a moisturiser or hair conditioner to your hairline. This will create a barrier between the tan and your hair and avoid any mishaps. Wear a hair cap during the process.

Removing fake tan from your hair If the colour does get on your hair you may need to apply fake tan remover in order to fix the catastrophe.  There are some DIY fake tan removers you can prepare at home. You can also use some everyday products to remove colour stain on your blonde hair. One of the simplest ways to remove minor colour stain is to wash hair with hot water. Heated extra virgin olive oil is another great fake tan remover. The result will amaze you. However you have to be careful not to deep fry your hair in the process! Make sure the oil is not too hot.

A chlorine-based colour neutraliser may not necessarily remove colour staining from your blonde hair completely but it you certainly tone it down.  There are some products on the market that remove permanent hair colour. It’s an amazingly good fake tan remover. It is very important that you follow the instructions when using a chemical hair colour removal. If you are using any chemical colour stain removal product, always follow with a generous amount of deep conditioner that is low pH. It counteracts with the harmful chemicals and retains the natural softness and shine of your hair.

Before using any chemical fake tan remover always carry out a patch test to ensure you are not allergic to any of the ingredients. Protect your cloths and eyes from the fake tan remover too, as they often contain harsh chemicals. Always remember not to use hair colour removal products on eye brows or lashes and not to use bleach to remove colour stain of blonde hair. Bleach weakens the hair shaft resulting in brittle, damaged hair.

Through practice you will become a master at spray tanning. In the meantime, if the colour still decides to wonder off to unwanted places and these tips don’t completely remove the tan from your fair hair then do not be shy to seek professional help from your local salon.

Laser Hair Removal and Tanning

Laser hair removal is an effective and popular method of hair removal today. It is a particularly successful method of hair removal for people with pale skin and dark hair. During treatment some of the light energy gets absorbed by the skin before it reaches the hair follicles. Darker skin absorbs more energy than lighter skin, causing discolouration. However, it is not the end of the world for people with fake tan.

Laser hair removal technology has continued to develop over the years and now incorporates skin cooling devices and longer wavelength lasers for safer hair removal. Newer machines are designed to reduce hyper-pigmentation and the risk of burning to make the hair removal treatment safer for those with darker skin. Experts also advise to turn down the laser energy during treatment of a patient who has fake tan applied. There is less risk of discolouration while destroying unwanted hair follicles.

If you have fake tan and want to get laser hair removal it’s a good idea to wait until the tan fades and plan the hair removal treatment between fake tan applications. Although it can be a little irritating to wait for the tan to fade, it is a much better option when you are planning to invest in laser hair removal treatments. If you undergo the treatment while you still have a fake tan (or natural tan) then you may not see the best results possible, and risk discolouration of the skin too.

Another option is to do your research and search for a laser hair removal clinic or specialist that uses the latest technology that are compatible with dark or tanned skin tones. Always let your laser technician know that you have a fake tan.

If you just had a laser hair removal treatment, you will want to show off your hairless tanned skin but you must remember to avoid fake tanning until the tenderness of the laser remover has subsided. The time required will vary between individuals. Laser treated areas are usually very sensitive and should not be exposed to direct sunlight. Always use sunscreen that has SPF 30 or higher to protect your skin.

Laser hair removal treatment is available for people with all types of skin. Experts have developed new technologies to accommodate patients with darker skin tones however, people with fake tan or naturally darker skin should do their research thoroughly and seek advice of their tanning consultant before undergoing treatment.

How to Wash Tan out of Clothes

A spray tan is the ideal stain for your skin but not for your sheets and clothing. Should you accidently stain your clothes, towels or bedding then don’t fret. You can easily remove fake tan from different materials. Check out our stain removal tips and tricks for how to remove fake tan from your clothes and sheets.

Comfy Cottons No worries! The DHA, erythrulose and bronzers that are found in the majority of fake tanning products do not stick to cotton and, therefore, do not permanently stain. To remove fake tan from your comfy cotton favourites simply use a non- bleach stain remover, regular detergent and cold water and your cottons will be as good as new again.

Stylish Synthetics To remove fake tan from synthetics fabrics you should soak the stained article in warm water. Add a non- bleach stain remover and rinse until the stain fades If the stain is still evident after a few rinses then throw the article into the wash. It may also help to use a stronger stain remover to blast the bugger once and for all.

Divine Delicates   It’s a little trickier to remove fake tan from clothing that can’t just be tossed into the washing machine. Douse and rinse the article in warm water with non- bleach spot remover. Continue until the stain has faded. If this technique does not work, take the article into the dry cleaner. We recommend bringing the spray tan to show the dry cleaners the compounds within the product.

Emergency Manoeuvrers • Use club soda as an alternative stain remover. A great trick when a washing machine and stain removing products are not accessible, like on vacation or already enjoying that night out on the town! • Avoid the urge to attack your article with vicious rubbing as this will cause the bronzer and spray tan compounds to soak deeper into your material. A slight dab (and flick of the wrist) works best for washing off a stain. • Prevention is better than cure- While tanning wear a dark, tight fitting bathing suit or even better, your birthday suit. And for after, if standing around in the buff is not your thing then throw on a loose- fitting, dark coloured garment (preferably something older), so that if your spray tan does run the stain will not be visible.

How to get a Natural Tan

A healthy, glowing, sun-kissed look is the epitome of beauty by today’s standards. Due to the scares of skin cancer and premature aging, less and less people are tanning in the sun with more people turning to spray tanning and self tanning products to achieve a natural-looking tan. If you are wondering how to get a natural tan without exposing your skin to harmful UV rays then these rules should come in handy. Here’s how to get a natural tan, (well at least one that looks natural).Rule 1: Exfoliate The first rule to getting a natural tan is to exfoliate, and exfoliate well. Exfoliating helps to remove the dead skins cells that sit on the surface of the skin. If you don’t remove them, your spray tan or tanning lotion won’t absorb properly and you’ll be left with a patchy, uneven tan. When exfoliating it is important to pay extra attention to the known trouble spots such as elbows, wrists, heels and knees. Wherever the skin in thicker and dryer, the tan will become more prominent resulting in the common tanning faux pas- orange knees. Exfoliate in the shower or bath to wash off any sweat, dust and oil from your skin. The aim is to remove any barriers that will prevent your tan from being fully, and evenly absorbed.Rule Two: No Lines Avoiding tan lines is the best way to get a natural tan look. So be brave, and go au-naturale when getting a spray tan at the salon or applying self tanning products at home. By avoiding any tan lines you’ll get a perfect tan that will look so natural that people will think you were born bronzed! Always remember that different parts of the body absorb the tanning formula at a different pace. Therefore you must allow yourself sufficient time for different parts to get the natural tanned look. We recommend you use a tinted tanning lotion or spray as you’ll be able to see where you’ve already applied the products and make sure you don’t miss any key areas. Always keep in mind a natural tan is an even one.Rule Three: Hide the Evidence Stains, streaks and blotches are a giveaway that your tan is not a natural one. Always watch your hands – orange hands and stained fingernails are obvious marks that your tan is not authentic. Wear gloves or be sure to wash your hands with warm water and soap immediately after applying the tan. To be safe make sure you wash your hands every 5 minutes if you are not using gloves. Keep some lemon on hand to help remove any streaks or fix any mistakes you make once your tan has set. This natural remedy will help smooth out any streaks and can be applied to trouble areas like elbows and knees to lighten up your tan in these areas. The end result is a streak-free, even looking natural tan that will help you to look great, and feel amazing.

Keep your Tanning Salon Clean

When customers walk into your tanning salon they expect a relaxed atmosphere in every respect. Clients should be provided with a clean, hygienic, and professional yet relaxed atmosphere. There are three main ways that germs can be spread in a salon. By direct exposure through tables, sinks, counter, spray tanning area etc, by direct contact or cross infection, for example skin to skin contact and by equipment contact such as through tanning beds, tanning machines, towels, robes and sandals etc. It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure the salon is clean for the staff and customers.

Disinfectant Cleaner is the best product to clean and disinfect multiple surfaces such as tanning beds, bathrooms, walls, floors, sandals and waste receptacles. However, it is important to use different cloths or cleaning sponges for different surfaces. It is also important that they are regularly replaced. Use freshly prepared solutions each time. For heavily stained areas it is advisable to pre-clean using a less diluted liquid. For places like bathrooms it is good to soak or wet the surface for few minutes before cleaning, again with a less diluted disinfectant cleaner. Seek professional laundrette services to clean clothing and fabrics within the salon. Most companies who supply cleaning products provide such services.

It is important to use sanitising spray and sanitising wipe to sanitise pre cleaned surfaces of your tanning salon.  A quick spray clean of the staffroom table, counter and tanning beds will prevent 95% of bacteria from growing in the first place.  You do not require any water; therefore you do not have to worry about any messy, wet, or slippery surfaces.

Tanning salon staff must present themselves in a smart, neat and professional manner too in order to represent the tanning salon in the best possible way at all times. They must be aware of their personal hygiene and clean their hands and other body parts that may come into contact with tanning machines or customers using anti bacterial hand wash and sanitisation lotion.

It is handy to label the cleaning cloths and chemical products in case anyone who is not familiar with the equipment tries to use them. All cleaning materials should be purchased through specialised companies instead of using high street domestic products. Specialist companies provide solutions in bulk quantities, and at a reasonable price. Their products are approved by the health and safety authority and are specially produced for salons, hospitals and restaurants to provide an industrial level of cleaning.

Keeping your salon is not only important for you customers’ health and experience, but it is also vital for the reputation and operation of your tanning salon. Keep your salon tidy, clean and hygienic using the right products and provide customers with the best experience that will keep them coming back to you salon time after time.

Fake Tan not Baked Tan!

Wednesday, August 24, 2011
by John Doe

It’s a little (OK, MASSIVE) known fact that sun tanning is harmful for your skin, body and overall health. The sun’s dangerous UVA rays leave behind those pesky age spots and freckles. (Freckles are in fact clumps of concentrated melanin, your body’s mechanism to protect you from getting burnt). Then there are the premature wrinkles and eye cataracts that occur also as a result of prolonged exposure to the sun. And for the cherry on the top- sun tanning places you at an elevated risk for developing Melanoma, an often deadly form of skin cancer. UVB rays, UVA rays’ sly counterpart, leave you with an increased risk for developing basal and squamous cell carcinoma which are other dangerous forms of skin cancer. Essentially, the bronzed glow is the only good thing that a real sun tan gives you- and that fades in no time.

Thankfully, sunless, fake tanning has come a far way since its beginnings as an orange-hued skin dye. Sunless fake tanning, notably spray tanning and fake tan lotions, leave users with a natural, even- toned golden glow, making it hard to even tell that the tan came out of the bottle rather than Mother Nature. Spray tans work by spraying dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a harmless, TGA approved colourless sugar that clings to your skin, mixing with the cells on your skin’s outermost layer to produce a darkened skin shade. In contrast to sun tanning, fake tanning leaves you free of tan lines and the risk of red and sore sun-burn, blisters and peeling. Additionally, sunless fake tanning covers up your skin’s freckles- a stark difference to the freckles sun tanning graciously provides.

A fake tan will take around a week to fade, although thorough exfoliation prior to applying the product and moisturiser in the days following (in addition to before) helps to extend the length of your tan before your skin naturally starts flaking and fading your fake tan along with it.

It goes without saying. Faking it stands far superior to baking it. Your health and beautifully fake tanned skin will thank you.
